SCALABRINIANS IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The state of South Australia does not constitute a major attraction for new immigrants, as only 5 percent of them settle in its territory. However, forty years ago there were significant communities of Italians that required pasoral care. The parish of Mater Christi in Seaton, Adelaide, was established in the early 1960s. It has now become a multicultural center, from which assistance is given also to communities of Filipinos and Portuguese speaking immigrants.
